Confidentiality of Information

 

The Confidentiality of Information shall be as set forth in the Management of the Student’s Scholastic Record.   Radford City Schools shall maintain accurate and complete individual, permanent and cumulative records for every student enrolled in the public schools.   These records shall include cumulative and confidential information and shall be the student's official school record.   Such records, identified as educational records in Title 20, section 1232(g) of the United States Code and in Chapter 14 of Title 22.1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, shall be maintained in compliance with all federal and state law.

 

Parents or eligible students are permitted to inspect and review scholastic records related to the student which are collected, maintained or used by Radford City Schools. Records are kept of all parties obtaining access to scholastic records collected, maintained or used by Radford City Schools.  When  a request for disclosure of scholastic record data is made, such a request shall be granted immediately but no more than five working days after the date of the request.  More information about Confidentiality of personally identifiable information can be found in the Radford City Schools Policy Manual for Special Education located in the Six Year Plan in the principals office.  Radford City School also publishes and distributes the Student Records Policy, Student Code of Conduct and Other Information annually in their child's student handbook which is published/distributed within ten days of the first day of school for all students.
