Dalton/RHS Enrichment

Seventh graders may enroll in an exploratory Critical Thinking course, eighth graders and RHS juniors and seniors can take Independent Study. The following activities also are available to these students:
 
  • College Board PSAT 8/9 Testing (for eighth graders) November 2015.
  • American Mathematics Competition (all seventh and eighth graders identified in math) November 2015
  • Brown Bag Book Club (Dalton--we read and discuss a novel or a collection of short stories or poetry) 
  • Information about Summer Residential Governors School opportunities distributed in Oct./Nov.
  • VPA deadline is Nov. 17; Academic/Mentorships deadline is Dec. 8; FLA deadline is Dec. 8
  • Enrichment Trips or In-School Presentations--(Interested sophomores meet with representatives of SWVGS during sixth period in the school library on Dec. 3; parents meet with representatives of SWVGS on Dec. 3 in the school library at 5:00; sophomores who have returned permission slips tour SWVGS on Feb 22 from 11:45-2:15.
  • SWVGS applications due March 3, 2016
  • PSAT 8/9 scores distributed and explained to students and their parents  - evening session March 8, 7:00 pm
  • Deadline for UVA Summer Enrichment Program applications is in February
  •  
  • Spring Brown Bag Book Club will meet on Thursdays during the Dalton lunch beginning April 7
  •  
  • Spring Twilight Zone screenings during lunch at Dalton for gifted students (7-8) and other Critical Thinking students Dates TBD
  • A.P. pre-administration sessions April 21 or April 24 (attend one)  
  • A.P. examinations Dates May 4-14 
  • Any student ages 13-18 can register to participate in Google's online science fair!  Go to www.googlesciencefair.com.
  • See Mrs. Dangerfield in March if you are interested in attending a cost-covered theatre program at UVA Wise this summer (current sophomores and juniors).
