Tye-Dye Shirt
CREATE YOUR OWN AT HOME
Materials:
- A clean or
new white t-shirt
- a variety
of dye colors mixed in small containers or
squirt bottles
(follow directions on dye package for mix)
- rubber
bands
- plastic
wrap
- baking
soda (optional)
1-set up dye and
add a tablespoon or more of baking soda
(soda helps to set the dye)
2-bundle the
shirt into twisted areas and wrap rubber bands tightly
around each bundle. (The more bundles and wrapped areas
the greater the design.)
3-dip shirt in
colors, small areas at a time if using more than
one color.
(If using squirt bottles, just squeeze colors all over
shirt!)
4-after you
have added as much color as you desire, lay the shirt on
covered surface and cover tightly with plastic wrap or
put in plastic trash bag. Leave undisturbed for at
least 8 hours,
remove rubber bands.
5-rinse with
lots of water till water runs clear-outside hose
works best !!! Wash before wearing! |
