Belle Heth History

Belle Heth Elementary School is a public school that includes grades four, five, and six for the city of Radford. Current enrollment is 359 students. It is located on a fourteen acre site in east Radford. The school was named after Mrs. Belle Heth, the wife of Captain Stockton Heth and a former citizen of Radford. Construction of the current Belle Heth School was completed in 1957 at a cost of $443,428. It was originally one of the three elementary schools in Radford for grades one through seven. Later, the elementary schools combined, and Belle Heth became the elementary school for all fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students within the city. In 1987, additional rooms for sixth grade were constructed, and in 1995, an art/music room, two classrooms, and a conference room were added.
