Strategies for addition/subtraction
 

Counting On: start on one number then count up
ex. 4+2  start on 4 and count on for 2 more.
Counting Back: start on a number and count backwards
ex.  4-2 start on 4 and count back for 2
Doubles: 1+1=2, 3+3=6, 8+8=16
Doubles plus 1 or Near Doubles:  1+2=3, 2+3=5, 5+6=11
