SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION

 

 

 

 

 

Summer School Calendar:      June 12, 2008 -- First day of summer school English.

                                                June 16, 2008 – First day of summer school Physical Education.

                                                TBA -- First day of summer school Math.

 

Daily Schedule of Classes:     Summer school will run Monday – Thursday each week, however, the teachers and administration may adjust the schedule.  Summer school will conclude approximately three weeks or the equivalent of 12 school days from the first day of classes for students repeating a course and approximately six weeks or the equivalent of 24 school days for students taking a new course.

Summer School Fees:              $50.00             Radford Residents

                                                $100.00           Non-Radford Residents

 

                                                Make checks payable to Radford High School.  Fees must be paid in advance.  No refunds after first day of summer school.

 

Attendance:                            Admission slips for absences and tardies must be obtained from the Assistant Principal’s office.  If you arrive late or have to leave early, you must check through the Assistant Principal’s office.  Perfect attendance is expected, and all work missed must be made up through arrangements with the teacher.

 

                                                On the first day of Summer School, please proceed to the Library.

REGULATIONS

 

1.             Not more than 10 hours of excused or unexcused absences will be permitted for new courses and not more than 5 hours for a repeat course.

 

2.             Any portion of an hour missed will count as one full hour.  Arriving late or leaving early will count toward the 5/10 hour maximum, regardless of the reason.  The student will be dropped from summer school if he/she is absent or tardy after accumulating 5 or 10 hours.  The student is dropped on the 6th or 11th hour.  No refunds will be made after the first day of Summer School.

 

3.             All work scheduled or assigned must be completed; otherwise no credit for Summer School will be given.

 

4.             Exam Exemption – Students who are absent 3 hours or less and who are at school for the entire exam period will be exempted from taking the final exam.

 

5.             Misconduct will not be tolerated.  It is assumed that students are in class because they want to be.  A student who cannot behave will be dropped from the roll and no refund made since the teachers are hired on the basis of enrollment.

 

6.             A student who withdraws after 5/10 hours will receive a grade of “F” which will be recorded on his/her Permanent Scholastic Record Card.

 

7.             The dress code is the same for summer school as regular school.  (Shorts allowed, shoes must be worn, no mesh or tank tops, etc.)

 

8.             Students must park in one of the schools parking lots (includes faculty parking lot).  Students are NOT to park in front of the school or in the Intermediate School parking lot.

 

9.             Students are not allowed to have visitors or be in cars during break time.

 

10.          The use of or possession of tobacco, alcohol or drugs is not permitted.

 

11.          All policies and regulations of regular school must be followed unless otherwise amended on this information sheet.
