Radford High School Mission Statement:

Radford High School will provide a learning environment that prepares students for success in college and careers and provides opportunities to become independent thinkers and problem solvers.

A desire for lifelong learning will be encouraged and students will be expected to accept their roles as informed, productive, and responsible citizens with an understanding and respect for an ever changing and diverse world.

Description of our Freshman Transition Program:

The Freshman Transition Program at Radford High School was started  to help freshman make a successful transition to the 9th grade from middle school, have a successful 9th grade year and advance to the 10th grade. We offer a wide variety of resources for our freshman that include one on one counseling, before and after school tutoring in math, english and social studies. We also focus on the students social interactions and needs in the high school setting to make sure they are acclimated.

Goals:

1. Make sure that students have a successful academic freshman year.

2. Counsel students that have discipline referrals to the office.

3. Identify at risk students (academic and discipline) and provide the necessary assistance they need.

4. Open a line of communication with parents about students who may be having  problems in school.

5. Be supportive of all students, their individual needs, and provide a positive learning environment.
