Rebecca Nagle, English Teacher
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Becca Nagle and this year I will teach English 8 and several small reading intervention classes. This is my ninth year teaching. I started my teaching career at Franklin County High School as a special education inclusion teacher in English 9 classrooms. In 2019, my family and I moved to Radford and I took a similar position at Dalton Intermediate. I have loved my time at Dalton and hope to forever be a bobcat! I committed to graduate from Grassfield High School in Chesapeake in 2009. From there, I traveled to southwest Virginia to attend Virginia Tech and have not left this side of the state since! I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2012 (go Hokies) with a degree in Human Development and a concentration in Professional Helping Skills. I then decided to further my education with a master's degree in Special Education from Liberty University in 2016. A few years into my teaching career, I found that several of my ninth grade students struggled with reading, and I desperately wanted to help them. This lead me to my second master's in Reading Literacy from Radford University, completed in 2021. This year, I am so excited to get to use everything I've learned to help my students in English and reading intervention class!
Since moving to Radford, my family and I have fallen more in love with the community and enjoy enriching the lives and education of the students here. My eleventh grade English teacher sparked a love for reading and writing in me, and I have not looked back since! I believe that reading and writing are crucial lifelong skills needed by students, and I hope to give my students the skills they need to be successful in whatever path they chose after graduation. My favorite part of working in Radford City Schools is the close knit community and potlucks! I am really looking forward to this school year and can't wait to get started!
