Welcome!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Annie Wilkinson and I will be your 8th Grade Civics Teacher this year!

I have been in education since 2020. I committed to graduate from Graham High School in 2014, where I went to Virginia Tech and committed to graduate with a bachelor's degree in history in 2018. I then completed my master's degree in Social Studies and English Education in 2019.

I love building relationships with students and connecting with people. I have always lived in a small town and was excited to work at Dalton Intermediate which has a small and close knit community.

I had two wonderful people inspire me to become an educator. The first was my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Turner, who had an amazing passion for history that ignited my love for history. I knew that one day I would want to share my love for history with students. The second person who inspired me to teach history was my cooperating teacher, Mr. Mattox. I was first assigned to work with Mr. Mattox in 2017 and he was such a wonderful person to work with. He was the person who helped me realize my dream of teaching could become a reality.

My favorite part of our community is that we are all close and take care of one another. I always know that my Bobcat family will have my back.

All in all, I am SO excited to get this year started! I want my students to be critical thinkers who can understand current events. I strive to help them understand the way our government works and teach them to be committed citizens. I hope this will help our students to create a brighter future.
