Mrs. Rackaway

Hello Friends,
I'm Andrea Rackaway, a fourth grade teacher at Belle Heth Elementary School. My family is new to the area, having just moved from Georgia. However, I'm a long way from home in that I was born and raised in western Kansas. I graduated in 2005 with a degree in Communication and Theatre before returning to school a few years later and achieving my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. My husband's job as Chair of the Political Science Department at Radford University brought us to Virginia. We have three children. Madison, our oldest, is currently pursuing her Masters of Social Work at Columbia University in New York City (Go, Lions!) Our children Cate and Will are 7th and 6th graders respectively in Radford City Schools. Our eclectic family was partially made through the amazing journey of adoption which led us to Ethiopia, Africa to bring our two youngest home. I cannot wait to share that amazing culture with my students as well as learn so many amazing things about each of them.

I look forward to a fabulous year filled with so many learning experiences. I will be your child's greatest advocate in the classroom and I will work first to build a loving, safe relationship with each one of them. Together, we are ALL a team with one goal in mind - to help your child have a truly successful 4th grade experience.

Go Bobcats!
