Types of Internet Based Activities
Objective: Students will learn about types of Internet based activities
(gaming, email, file-sharing) and how to address the unique dangers these activities can present.

email, personal information, scan, spam, "the cloud", gaming, file-sharing, download, upload, freeware, spyware, malware, phishing, antivirus software, URL, advertising techniques (including signing up for sites, pop-ups, and online links)

Basic Concepts:
  • Never give out personal information
  • Don't open email from people you do not know and trust
  • Keep your antivirus software up to date
  • Close pop-ups
  • Signing up to use websites may lead to spam, phishing, and/or scams
  • Just because it looks like it is real, doesn't mean it is
  • If it looks to good to be true, it usually is (use your common sense)
  • Understand the difference between biological (human) and computer viruses
