Take-home reading bags

One activity that can make a difference to your child’s reading success is if you can find 10-20 minutes at home each night to listen to your child read, and/or read to them!

Each day (Monday through Thursday), your child should read to you or listen to you read a book.  Students have the opportunity to check out books every week (kindergarten students on Wednesday and second grade students on Friday), so your child should always have something good to read.  I also send home a new word game at least once per month, so that is another option for at-home practice.

Your child's classroom teacher knows about this homework, and we are not trying to add extra work for your family.  The book or activity that your child chooses can also count on your child's reading log for the classroom teacher.
