The Virginia Readers' Choice program provides students the opportunity to choose the winner of the Virginia Readers Choice award. It is sponsored by the Virginia State Reading Association.
Each year, one book from primary, elementary, middle, and high school levels receives the Virginia Readers' Choice distinction.
Reason for selection:
- The book must be recognized as noteworthy in the field of children's/young adult literature.
- The book must be published within 5 years prior to the ballot on which it appears.
- Books must be appropriate for the level for which it is nominated.
Each year 10 books are nominated at different age levels. students are to read or listen to at least 4 of the 10 and then vote for the book they liked the best.
The voting takes place in April. the books that receive the most votes from throughout the state of Virginia will receive the Virginia Readers; Choice Award.
